Social Media Marketing Is the Most Widely Used Internet Marketing Strategy That Provides Good Traffic To Search Engines

by Elaine Howell

In our last issue, we discussed about how to use Facebook ads to bring your business to the higher level. In this issue we are going to talk about social media management for better search engine rankings and traffic.

There are a number of online marketers that state that Facebook has turned out to be more effective than Google in terms of pulling in traffic. Whether this is true or not, it's not unusual to know that many other marketers are jumping in the bandwagon to try out Facebook marketing for themselves also because this way is a lot cheaper and much simpler to set up.

Here are some additional tips on how to pull traffic from search engines straight to your Facebook page:

Start building Lots Of Quality One way links

You'll find a number of ways you can lead your potential clients and customers towards your page. This is one of the beauties of this social networking site. The more Likes that you have which winds up to having more Fans, the more links lead back to your Page. This is also known as on-site optimization.

The offsite way is to build links using other websites such as your formal website, article submission sites, other social networking sites, email signatures and stuff like that. Articles are a great way to build links. Not only that, they also allow you to presell to your prospects before reaching to your main page.

- Use your Business Name

It's good to get a bit innovative and fun with your updates. Still, this isn't the case when it comes to your business name on Facebook. The main goal is to provide a name that's searchable for others. This improves the keyword optimization aspect. The name should not serve as sales pitch so don't try to stuff them too much with descriptions unless you need to differentiate your name with a similar business name. If the business name is Jeremiah's Fruit Shakes, for example, and there's something that sounds quite similar to this, then make it Jeremiah's Organic Alabama Fruit Shakes.

The same goes for vanity URLs. This is a somewhat innovative addition to Facebook features supposedly placed to make the searching for your Fan page easier. Similar to your business name, your URL should be very relevant. Go for something direct just like facebook.com/jeremiahsfruitshakes.

- Complete your Profile

What can be a more significant aspect than your landing page on Facebook? From here, customers will come to a decision whether they want to read on and explore the other parts of your profile or not. So answer completely as much as possible. Here, you can be imaginative with the descriptive text that you place in the About Page and related outside links.

Your landing page is also one of the pages where you can place keyword-rich text. Aim to place in words that are most searchable in your industry, so Google and other search engines can easily pick them up. Also, take advantage of customer feedback or testimonials as these will help you attract more prospects. This is a great way to build your reputation within the industry.

While Facebook in general offers many benefits to any online marketer, even now, nothing can take the place of an official website that's customized properly to meet the needs of a business. At most, a Facebook page is just a great addition to any business website because it acts as a community among prospective customers and clients alike.
