Social Media Marketing with Twitter

by Rick Carbone

Getting more traffic to your website falls into two categories: paid and free. There are numerous ways to get traffic but few are free. Organic traffic for example is free and for the most part highly targeted because of the use of keyword search results. It's by far the best way to get traffic, but it's time consuming and lengthy. A good organic listing, for example, could take months maybe even a year or so for a keyword or keyword phrase. There are Search Engine Optimization firms that can drastically cut the timing but a reputable firm could cost you a bundle. I've written many articles on the SEO process at my site, Home Business Research and my blog for your reference.

One simple way that has grown substantially over the past few years is Social Media. My current favorite is Twitter. There's nothing wrong with Facebook, I just prefer using Twitter. The reason is Twitter is simple and it can be highly viral. It's also the best instant messaging tool on the Internet today. As a marketing tool, it's fast, targeted and easy. It doesn't get any better than Twitter. The reason is you have a built in targeting mechanism in your followers. Followers can be potential customers as well as viewers to your niche site.

The potential uses of Twitter are substantial. Your followers become your potential product customers because they signed up to your Twitter account. That means that they are interested in your message. You can widen or narrow your audience through your Tweets. Take for example a political Twitter page. Tweeting your message to your followers is just the beginning because they can re-tweet your message to their followers and so on. This is viral marketing at its best especially when you are tweeting your message with the URL you are promoting attached to your Tweet.

The power of Social Media and especially Twittered is clearly seen in the media today just about everyone has a Twitter or Facebook page. It's the fastest way to communicate today.

Don't be confused by all of this because it really isn't. There are a host of ways to get on to Twitter or Facebook and start getting followers.
