Viral Marketing for Small Business
Viral marketing is considered to be any marketing or advertising method that once activated, will spread like a "virus" without any further effort on your part. It is a rare win/win situation, if used correctly. A good example of using this method would be to offer free web-hosting. You provide this service for free on your server, you get traffic whom takes your offer, and in return, you place a banner ad on their sites which advertise your own website or products. For very little cost, you have just increased your marketing efforts through their websites. Often, internet marketers will offer free information, products or services to generate traffic to their sites. The visitor gets something, for nothing, but you get a lead, a potential customer whom may further buy a product or service from you as well as tell others.
Viral Marketing Creating a Buzz There are many great ways to achieve viral marketing. Most of these methods do not cost that much other than in time and creativity. One of these is creating a buzz, something that is new, exciting and people want to talk about it with others. Forums, MySpace and Facebook sites are great places to "talk," and generate interest, with care not to overdue it where it would be considered spam. Online video and audio formats cost more than standard text ads or banners, but they are found to achieve greater viewing rates, so your message has a better chance of being seen and heard. Many marketers have had good success with offering downloadable free e-books, particularly if the e-book has good information which may get passed on to others whom will visit your site to obtain same.
Of course, you need to capture an email address to build a list. Every time someone comes to your site, is another opportunity that they may buy your products or services, every name on your list can be approached at a later date and they all may tell others about what you have to offer. There is value in articles which are submitted to the various article directories along with a link to your website or opt-in page in the resource box. You do not even have to write these articles, as there are plenty of ghost writing services on the internet.
You can provide others with "free reprint rights" to these articles on the condition that your resource box remains intact with your link. Good quality articles will get passed along by others which passes your link along with. Blogging can also work much the same as articles. Another good marketing strategy is viral email. Producing a message with a quality offer or some incentive that is hard to resist, but also adding that this message can be passed along to friends.
How much? Well, maybe enough that you could have an 80's rock band at your disposal instead of this makeshift duo. Ridiculous, yes! Effective, even more so. The video of this commercial has had 103,511 hits on You Tube. According to Warren Buffet, who owns Geico's parent company, the ads have embedded the concept of Geico and affordable rates in peoples' minds. He believes that 40% of the people who call the company buy the product.
The incredible thing is that the original video outranks a major TV show in views and we could only assume has contributed to the major views of Chris Brown who was the musical artist. How much money do you think Chris Brown has made because of the "JK Wedding Entrance Dance" video? How many I-Tunes downloads of that song have been done because of people that have seen that original video and liked his song. I was one of the ones who purchased that song off of I-Tunes because of the original video.
I wanted to share with you this example on YouTube to show you how powerful internet viral marketing really is. Remember, this is only one example of the millions that are taking place everyday on the internet. So whether you're a traditional business owner that wants to advertise your business on the internet, an internet marketer that needs prospects for their business, or some goofball that wants to get noticed by millions of people, you truly have the power in your hands to get noticed by the world. Just make sure that before you submit anything online that you're absolutely sure that you would want the world to see it, because internet viral marketing is incredibly powerful. Once it goes viral there's no turning back.
